Analyzing elderly injury rates with assistive mobility devices
Tools used
MATLAB, Theia 3D, C-Motion
Date
May 2023 - December 2023
Location

Lab
Technology for occupational performance
I collaborated with the Technology for Occupational Performance (TOP) Lab to conduct a literature review identifying areas lacking research then developed a research question addressing high elderly injury rates with assistive mobility devices and created an IRB protocol for human data collection. As lead lab technician, I utilized a $64,000 motion capture system to collect data from participants and analyzed the collected data using Theia 3D, C-Motion, and MATLAB. To collect more comprehensive data, I then integrated force-sensing sensors into the measurement system. Additionally, I trained new research recruits in data collection techniques and presented findings to a review panel.
